Corporate Colour > Uniforms

Uniforms are another vital part of your brand equity. Putting the staff into dreary, cold, dark colours does not necessarily, as so many fondly believe, mean that they come across as efficient and professional. It often suggests that the company has no soul. From the wearers' point of view, if they are dressed that way, they are unlikely to be able to drum up much enthusiasm - either for the job they are doing or for the customers. Warm, friendly service goes out of the window.

It is worth a company's while, when designing uniforms for their staff, to give prime consideration to the colours. Playing it safe, dressing personnel in negative, often draining colours - cold navy, dark grey - means they as individuals are not supported, or motivated, by the uniform. This impacts powerfully on staff performance. Companies often describe the new uniform as "smart" when the unavoidable impression is that they really mean "anything to prevent them wearing jeans for work."

Putting on your work clothes alters your mindset and focuses your mind on your work.

It is essential that the colours reflect the job and the nature of the company. Serious colours are usually best, but that does not have to mean boring. A huge opportunity is missed if the uniform designers do not take account of the personality of the wearers. It is perfectly possible to design uniform colour schemes that give the wearers a lift and make them feel good about themselves.

Colour Affects has designed uniform colours for a number of companies, with great success. Our uniquely deep understanding of colour patterns means that we can recommend colours that, whilst still unmistakably uniform, do take full account of both the feelings of the wearers and the company's image. If you really know what you are doing with colour, it is not necessary to reduce it to the lowest common denominator - which usually results in bland, boring colours doing nothing for anyone.

We will be delighted to quote a fee for providing optimum colours for your company uniforms and, if necessary, sourcing them for you.
