Industry Courses - Interiors; Branding, Design and Communication
Applied Colour Psychology in Interiors - 5 days
Who is this course for?
Interior designers and decorators working in the residential or commercial and public sectors.
Anyone who wants to gain a strong understanding about colour for interiors for their own business or home.
Colour psychology is a universal, psychophysical reaction - a powerful instinct that is on average, 80% unconscious. This course is designed for those working in residential and commercial interiors who want to learn how to apply Colour Psychology and the Colour Affects System to their designs. It will help ensure clients react to their environment in a more positive way whether this is in their home, an office space, a public space or other - and the really good news is that you will be far better able to predict response accurately. This course offers a great way of differentiating yourself from other designers.
You will learn what colours to use in certain areas to evoke certain moods and emotions. For example:
• Retailers can convert sightseers to purchasers;
• Businesses can use the Colour Affects System to reduce absenteeism and raise motivation in the workplace. Sending staff on motivation courses is great - but you are wasting your money if the light of enthusiasm dies in their eyes as soon as they come back, to work in a grey, colourless, world.
• In the Public Sector - prisons, hospitals, schools - colour psychology can make a huge difference, in terms of 'client' behaviour and mood as well as staff motivation
• Colour in the Home - how to make it feel like the most idyllic space for yourself and all the family.
Learning outcomes:
- Exactly what colour is, and how it works.
- How colour affects our emotions - our moods and behaviour.
- The psychology of each of the eleven main colours.
- The principles of the Colour Affects system.
- What colours to use in what areas to evoke a certain mood or behaviour, and those you should avoid.
- How to identify the ‘colour personality' of any entity (a commercial, institutional, public or private interior)
- The practicalities of putting colours together effectively to create consistent messages.
- Gain a strong insight into your clients by understanding how and why their personalities are affected by colour.
- How to give a rational explanation to back up your colour selection to a client/colleague - greatly cutting the need for endless subjective debate.
On successful completion of the course and short exam you will be awarded the ‘Colour Affects Certificate of Applied Colour Psychology in Interior Design'.
Classes are limited to 10 people, so you will need to reserve your place early, to avoid disappointment.
Fees in the UK: GBP £900 + VAT (£157.50) = £1007.50

Applied Colour Psychology in Branding, Design and Communication - 5 days
Who is this course for?
Anyone working in visual communication design, whether that's graphic designers, product and packaging designers, marketers, web-designers or other.
Colour increases our understanding of anything, including brand recognition, by up to 80%. Learn how to harness this on this course.
Learn how Colour Psychology, and the Colour Affects System, work within a graphic design context. Learn how to apply the principles to branding, print materials, products as well as electronically to identify the correct ‘personality type' and then design a harmonious colour palette that gives the desired message, mood or response to the end-user. Using the principles will make you stand out from your competitors by communicating clear, consistent messages which in turn will help to build a recognisable brand that truly expresses the values. Furthermore you will learn exactly how using one colour over another will make such a powerful difference. Then you can explain to your client why you have chosen the colour and what messages it gives, saving time and money by reducing subjective debate. This course is a great way of differentiating yourself from other designers.
Learning is done through a number of exercises including learning how to define which harmonious group any colour falls into as well as a number of other practical and interactive exercises designed to teach you how best to harness the power of colour.
